Russell Brand prepared to fight back against felony charge in iPhone arrest incident
Russell Brand was recently arrested and later released on $5,000 bail for throwing a paparazzo’s iPhone through a window, but the Get Him to the Greek star isn’t going to sit back and take it.
Brand has hired lawyer Robert Glass to fight the felony charge that will likely be brought on to him as a result of the incident, because he is arguing that the damage caused from the phone toss incident amounts to less than the $500 minimum for a felony charge.
According to Perez Hilton, Brand doesn’t believe the damage to the phone costs all that much, and he already dished out $240 to fix the window that fell victim to Brand’s anger.
TMZ reports, however, that the iPhone alone costs $500, so the felony charge grounds do stand.
Brand hasn’t apologized for the incident publicly, only taking to his Twitter account to write, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”
If Brand is convicted of the felony in this case, he could spend a maximum of two years in prison. However, prosecutors have not filed any formal felony charges against the actor and comedian.
Brand filed for divorce from pop star Katy Perry after just over a year of marriage in December.
