Mariah Carey is having a less than “Triumphant” moment with her new song and is on the hunt for another hit. The songbird has enlisted none other than the Pied Piper, R. Kelly to help her achieve that goal. Mariah who is in Chicago for the “American Idol” auditions, was side by side with Kels in the lab.

Mariah tweeted:

Me and Kells in the lab in Chi town working on a new song!OMG-his voice sounds A++&

I’m hoping that it’s a collabo between the two rather than a produced by R.Kelly hit!

American Idol judges

Good news for ‘American Idol‘ fans! The official list of judges has finally been released. Who will grace the stage?

Everyone you thought! Mariah Carey was the first judge officially announced (and the highest paid judge in reality TV history, pocketing a cool $18 million for one season), and now we know for sure that she will be joined byRandy JacksonNicki Minaj and country crooner Keith Urban.

Ryan Seacrest tweeted a photo with the newly complete panel, writing, “It’s official, your new #IdolJudges are @MariahCarey, @NickiMinaj, @KeithUrban & @Yo_RandyJackson!”

Though each of the judges were all heavily rumored to be taking on the roles, this is the first official confirmation for anyone other than Carey. There were snafus along the way for Jackson, who was originally slated to take on a mentoring role and leave the judges’ table in favor of Enrique Iglesias, but entered the arena once more last week. Minaj also faced some difficulties with her contract, as ‘Idol’ is sponsored by Coca-Cola and the Harajuku Barbie reps for the competitor, Pepsi.

Following the exits of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, producers were scrambling to fill the empty seats at the table. Others who were in talks to join the panel included Nick Jonas, who seemed enthusiastic about the role,Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg), Justin Bieber, previous ‘Idol’ runner up Adam LambertPharrell Williams and Katy Perry, who made no secret of the cash she was offered and seemed to take pride in rejecting the role.

The judging job takes a lot of commitment both in terms of dedication to the position as well as scheduling, so any stars who planned on going on tour would have had to adjust their itineraries to suit the shooting schedule — and most musicians make the bulk of their income from touring, though the endorsements that ‘Idol’ can encourage will grant pretty pennies as well. (Think of J. Lo and those Venus razors — you know she made big bucks there.) That said, it’s understandable why the show runners had so much difficulty narrowing down their short list of judges.

Minaj had been a guest judge on ‘Idol’ previously, and Urban has experience on ‘The Voice: Australia,’ so they seem like great fits for the show. Here’s hoping Mimi likes to share the spotlight!

Are you excited for the next ‘Idol’ season? Which judge is your favorite? Who would you have on your ideal ‘American Idol’ panel?

‘American Idol’: Mariah Carey Nearing Deal As Judge

The rumor mill may be on to something.According to Deadline, Mariah Carey is in final talks to join the judges panel on Fox’s “American Idol,” reportedly asking for a salary of $17 million.

If the deal is sealed, Carey will join Randy Jackson, the lone “Idol” judge left standing in recent weeks. Both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler left the show earlier this month.

“I’m telling the absolute truth in that I really have been torn” Lopez told Ryan Seacrest. “It all kind of worked together for a while, but it just gets more complicated … And something has to give and that’s, I think, where I am right now.”

Tyler was just as sad to say goodbye to the singing competition show
. “After some long … hard … thoughts … I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” he said.

Randy Leaving ‘Idol’, Too?; Mariah Carey in Talks to Replace

On the second part of the two-night season finale, the Top 12 reunite on the stage one last time before host Ryan Seacrest reveals the newest American Idol.

*With Steven Tyler gone and Jennifer Lopez all but gone from “American Idol,” there are now reports that fellow judge Randy Jackson is also ready to leave the judge’s table as well – but not the show.

Us magazine reports that Jackson is considering a lateral move from judge to mentor on the show.

“Show producers think they need to freshen everything up now,” an unnamed source told the magazine.

On Thursday afternoon, Tyler announced his departure following a two-year run, citing a desire to go back to his first love, Aerosmith.  Hours earlier, fellow two-termer J-Lo said on the “Today” show that it might be “time for me to go.”

Rumored replacements for the judges have included Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Black Eyed Peas band mates Fergie and – but the most serious talk has once again surrounded Mariah Carey.

The singer, who happens to be managed by Randy Jackson, was a front runner to join the show in 2010, but those talks fell through. Us reports today that producers are now “very close” to signing her to a deal.

But Deadline Hollywood reported on Thursday that Lopez is not completely out the door. Though the 42-year-old singer wants to return to performing full time and revive her movie career, negotiations for another season on “Idol” are reportedly still under way.

“She wants to do movies. She’s expecting her team to deliver,” a source close to Lopez reportedly told the site. “She feels she’d rather be on ‘Idol’ performing than judging everyone else.” The source said even with ongoing negotiations, Lopez is probably gone for good. “I think she’s off and it’s mutual,” the source said of the star, who was reportedly paid $12 million a year for appearing on the show. “They’re not inviting her back so quickly. Not because they’re unhappy with her. But because she wants a lot of f—ing money, a lot.”

A source at Fox described the ongoing negotiations as “complicated and fluid,” saying that things may get resolved very quickly, or drag on for a few more weeks.

Though “Idol” has held the top-rated crown in TV for eight years, the 2012 season saw it slip to #2 behind “Sunday Night Football,” as ratings continued a steady decline and the May finale drew record-low ratings.
